The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey: Review

The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey: Review
Picture

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was my most anticipated movie of the year, you will find, It does deliver. Peter Jackson has yet again worked his magic! Auvergne

To begin off, I absolutely love The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Those are the best films in recent history and i also cherish them deeply. So naturally, I had super high expectations, that for the most part were met.

The acting is terrific in this particular film. Once again perfect as Gandalf ian Mckellan is. Martin Freeman also ends up an excellent performance as Bilbo, the key character of this story. I loved the chemistry between Bilbo and Gandalf, I felt like they were perfect together. Another notable performance is the guy who plays Thorin Oakenshield. Everyone else gives solid performances too.

This time around, Peter Jackson decided to produce a lot more things CGI. The orcs and goblins to become specific. Inside the LOTR Trilogy there was stunt men or actors in prosthetics and costumes. Within The Hobbit, most of all the goblins and orcs were CGI. It would of been nice if they did it like the old films, though its not a bad thing. However they do look good. Everything else looks fantastic as always. The 3 trolls as well as the goblin king look excellent also and are among the better CGI. Gollum looks photo realistic within this and it's just stunning to view on the screen. Another character which i was impressed with was the "Main bad guy", who is the white orc or anything along those line. He looks really, excellent. It looks as if they used the same technology to bring him to life as they did Gollum.

The score in this particular film, by Howard Shore is beautiful. He brings new epic songs that play during the film and it gets your heart racing. He also uses some old pieces that were through the original trilogy and puts them in here, within a light but noticeable way.

The only real problems I needed with this movie, was that it takes a bit long to get started. That appears to bee a large problem with everyone. But when you can appreciate it for what exactly it is its not too bad. Also critics are saying that if the organization reaches Rivendell, the film slows way down. Yea it slows down somewhat along with its really interesting to watch though plus it flies by.

Overall it is a great movie. It may not be as good as The Fellowship of the Ring, but its a solid start. Its to light toned, or its trying to be like the LOTR trilogy,. That's a lot of things people are saying about this movie. Well it should really be a little more light toned and why the hell wouldn't you want to be just like the LOTR movies. Most complaints im seeing concerning this film are stupid and incredibly biased. You will most definitely enjoy this movie, if not love it, if you liked the Lord of the Rings.
